PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS

Picture
Hello and War Eagle!

My name is Brooke A. Gates, and I have the honor of serving as the President of the Kappa Upsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I’m so glad you’ve taken the time to visit our chapter’s website to learn more about who we are and what we stand for!

In 1974, 10 dynamic women brought the vision of Delta Sigma Theta to Auburn University, establishing Kappa Upsilon as the first Black Greek-lettered sorority on campus. Since that historic moment, our chapter has proudly upheld the sorority’s founding principles of sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action with passion, purpose, and pride.

Our sisterhood thrives on genuine connection, from monthly bonding activities that strengthen our relationships to initiatives that uplift and support our community. We celebrate scholarship by excelling both in and out of the classroom, with our members leading and making a difference in organizations like the Black Student Union, NCNW, SGA, Cupola Engineering Ambassadors, Auburn University Student Recruiters, NSBE, and more. Most importantly, service is at the heart of all we do. Whether we’re giving back through meaningful projects or creating opportunities that empower those around us, we make it our business to serve Auburn’s campus and surrounding communities.

I am incredibly proud of the legacy of Kappa Upsilon and the strides we continue to make as a chapter. As you explore this website, I hope you feel inspired by the impactful work we’re doing to honor Delta Sigma Theta’s mission and create a lasting legacy here at Auburn and beyond. Thank you for your interest in the Kappa Upsilon Chapter! Together, we’re making a difference and striving to leave a legacy of excellence, empowerment, and love for the next generation.

With love and gratitude,
Brooke A. Gates
